HPP’s events raise funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, our partner, and inspire Parkinson’s patients to keep moving. 100% of every HPP stroke, stride, or mile forward supports the work of The Michael J. Fox Foundation – the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research in the world.
Research increasingly shows that exercise helps slow the progression of the disease. We invite you to dive into The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s comprehensive resources, including curated resources below, around the link between Parkinson’s and exercise.
We don’t move just for the challenge. We move because science shows it’s one of the most powerful treatments for Parkinson’s disease. Learn more about the evidence. All information and resources are provided courtesy of The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Exercise can:
Ease motor and non-motor symptoms, like constipation, sleep changes, or mood troubles
Lessen balance changes or falls, which medications and surgeries can’t yet fully treat
Help medication work better by helping the brain use dopamine (the chemical that decreases in Parkinson’s) better
Whether you are aiming for a record-breaking row or your first mile around the neighborhood, the goal is the same:
defiant hope in motion.
